because alcohol removes the excess amount of water and if the starch is present in the lead it becomes blue black in it's colour which helps us to know the presence of starch in green leaves

Answer:

In laboratory green leaf is boiled with alcohol before adding iodine solution in order to dehydrate leaf completely.

Explanation:

Iodine solution test is performed majorly in laboratory to test the presence of starch.

If starch is present the specimen then the colour of the specimen turns bluish green indicating presence of starch.

When green leaf is boiled in alcohol the excess water present in the leaf evaporates leaving starch.
