QUESTION -

Why is H2S is better reducing agent than H2O?

ANSWER -

The size of H2O is smaller than that of H2S, therefore it can't act as reducing agent (as it can't give away its electrons due to influence of nucleus),

while in H2S the influence of nucleus is less and hence it can give away its electons, hence act as a better reducing agent.
