In the poem ‘Idiot box’, the poet sees the television as the main cause for laziness and lethargy of the boy.

He is not interested in anything around him, which would have aroused the curiosity of any other child, of his age. His life is spent watching television. The countless programmes that are aired on it holds his attention, that he does not want to know about anything that is happening around him.

‘Idiot Box’ is a term that refers to people who are foolishly attracted to the idiot box, that is, the television.

Those who watch T.V are so influenced by the device that they hardly stay connected to the outside world or their surroundings and spend their time in a futile and unproductive manner.

The programs telecasted in T.V are become so attractive that the viewers forget the other commitments in their regular life.
