Why is he temped to keep tricki on as a parmament guest?

Answer: Tricki’s mistress, Mrs. Pumphrey was a very rich lady. She used to send eggs, wine and brandy for Tricki which were all savored by Mr. Herriot. Letting him go would mean no more eggs and drinks, thus Mr. Herriot was tempted to keep him on as a permanent guest.
