The narrator was tempted to
keep Tricki on as a permanent guest because Mrs. Prumphrey had started bringing
eggs to build the strength of the Tricki. After this, the bottles of wine and
brandy were the other enjoyment. The narrators and his partners started
enjoying the eggs and wine, all meant for Tricki. Those days started with the
extra egg in the morning, wine in the midday and at the brandy at the end of
the day.

Mr. Herriot tempted to keep Tricki as a permanent guest because:
When Tricki was convalescing Mrs. Pumphrey began sending dozens of eggs and bottles of brandy and wine to build up his strength. All these were not necessary for Tricki, so the doctor and his staff enjoyed them. Also the doctor knew that if sent Tricki home Mrs. Pumphrey would once again pamper him and he would again fall sick. So he was tempted to keep Tricki as a permanent guest.
