Heating a platinum wire is a physical change because when we heat platinum or any other metallic-solid substance the substance gets changed from the solid state to the molten state due to the kinetic energy. And as we remove heat, the molten state after sometime gets back to its solid state. Hence, there is no change in the chemical properties of the substance, therefore, it is a physical change.

Unless the platinum reacts with oxygen or other gases in the flame,it undergoes physical change.All you have done is heat up the wire without causing any chemical bonds to change.The metal may have a phase change but that’s also physical.
