H exhibits properties of both, Alkali metals like, 1 valence electron, ability to form halides etc.
and those of halogens like non-metal, diatomic molecule, gaseous state etc.
Hence it position is not fixed in the periodic table and called as a rogue element.

ABHINAVrAI: ok i am giving a simple answer
sakshi222: ok
ABHINAVrAI: Here rogue refers to something different from normal or misbehave from others. Hydrogen is the only element that has only one electron in it's outermost orbit. If so it can take an electron and get a duplet configuration (to become stable) or it may be able to donate an electron to attain a stable configuration. Hence Hydrogen is called a rogue element.
sakshi222: okay

as it behave like alkalimetal, have one valence electron and can form halides and also have properties of halogen also , gives H - when gain an electron
