Because it is made up of same kind of atom, and element is a purest form of matter and it is made of same kind of atoms, so hydrogen considered as elements.

The alkali metals are recognized as a group and family of elements. These elements are metals . Hydrogen is not considered an alkali metal because the gas doesn't exhibit the typical properties of the group.
