HEY THIS WILL HELP YOU...

The purple sulfur bacteria and the green sulfur bacteria use hydrogen sulfide as an electron donor in photosynthesis, thereby producing elemental sulphur.

The redox potential of the BChlorophyll protein complex (RC-1 in some PS bacteria, RC-2 in others) is not low enough to accept electrons from water. The other problem is that the oxygen evolving complex that does the 2H2o => 4H+ + 4e- + O2 is a very complex bit of machinery.

Not all PS bacteria use H2S. Some use organic compounds (especially acetate, lactate and benzoate) and quite a lot use Fe2+.
