The more acidic substance will be the one whose conjugate base is more stable. Since the conjugate base carries a negative charge, electron-withdrawing substituents enhance stability by delocalizing that charge. -CH3 is electron-donating relative to -H, so acetone (AcCH3) has a conjugate base less stabilized than that of ethanal (AcH). Thus, ethanal is expected to be more acidic.
