why is ice at 273 K more effective in cooling than water at same temperature

This is because of the fact that phase transition occurs at same temperature. Hence, ice at 1bar pressure will melt to become liquid water at 273K. Thus the latent heat of fusion is used which comes to be around 335KJ/kg.

heyya here's ur ans.....

ice is more effective bcz it absorbs extra heat in the form of latent heat of fusion to melt that has high value of 80 cal/g K after that it will absorb same amount of heat as that of water at 273 K...so ice is more efficient due to extra 80 cal..
