why is ice at 273k more effective in cooling than water at the same temperature

hi friend this will help you - This is because of the fact that phase transition occurs at same temperature. Hence, ice at 1bar pressure will melt to become liquid water at 273K. Thus the latent heat of fusion is used which comes to be around 335KJ/kg. This heat is removed from the surrounding assuming they are at higher temperaturethat 273K.

Water at 273k has hidden latent heat inside it, but the ice does not have any hidden heat. This is the reason why ice is more effective.
