why is ice slippery?

Because ice is less dense than liquid water, its melting point is lowered under high pressures. A long-standing theory says that this is what causesice to be slippery: As you step on it, the pressure of your weight causes the top layer to melt into water.

because when the ice start becaming into water the particles of water start leaveing the solid structure so when we put our leg on it the water molecules leave the place with leg. this is the reason we slip
