The density of solid is usually higher than the density of liquid because in case of liquid, the particles are little far from each other. As a result, the force of attraction btw particles is very less. But in case of solid, the particles are located very close to each other , as a result the forces of attraction btw the particles is very strong. That is why, the density of solid is usually higher than density of liquid.
