The term Third World arose during the Cold War to define countries that remained non-aligned with either NATO, or the Communist Bloc. ... But since the cold war is over, so Indiacannot be called a third world countryas the definition itself is redundant

Hey buddy here is your answer..................................

Factually, yes. India is termed as a 3rd world country. However, people fail to understand that a 3rd world country can also be rich and it has little do with the number game.

It is a Cold War era term that the US alliance countries had given to the rest of the countries. So, the countries who didn't participate in the world wars or had very little to do with it were termed as 3rd world countries.

The modern terminology to term countries of the 21st century is the ‘developed’ or ‘developing’ countries. India definitely lies in the ‘developing’ countries because we still have to cover a long way to be called as ‘developed’.

Our Infrastructure needs massive improvement, our hospitals, schools and colleges needs better buildings and world class facilities. Our transportation system needs to be the at the standards of 21st century. The only difference in our trains of today's and the past times is that they are no longer steam engine run trains. Some of our Airports are definitely world class and leaves the best Airports of the world like JFK and others behind, like the IGI New Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai Airports.

We still lack in our capability to attract more tourism except Rajasthan and Himachal. We need to build our roads and highways to look like the rest of the developed world. We need to ensure that lane driving is strictly enforced and culturally improved to meet the world standards.

We need to ensure that there is a limit to automobiles in India. Right now, there is none. That's why whoever can afford, is buying 3 or 4 cars for a small family of 2 or 3. The pollution is the highest in the metros and that is where most of the tourists come and stay. The experience of bad traffic conditions and pollution is not a good one when they go back. How does word of mouth work in the favor of the country?

The literacy rate is still very poor except for a few cities and regions. We need to boost primary and high school education.

We also need to curb the cultural mindset of no girl child in the homes. Women contributes to 70% in Sweden’s workforce. Call it a feminist country but they are also one of the richest countries in the world. This may not be the only reason but one of the most important factor.

We also need to get rid of corruption and not in the way that some shrewd politicians wanted it to like Arvind Kejriwal. He was so deceptive when he made anti-corruption as his main election promise. He won, Delhi and the nation lost. Anyways, we have learnt from this.

We also need to ensure that FDI should not be halted at any step. The previous governments were so weak in handling this very important issue which really was one of the single most reasons along with Globalization to have put India on the roadmap of growth and rapid development.

For the last decade, the best thing to have happened to India is the rapid rise in the startups culture. We have finally stopped the mindset of a service based workforce country to a innovative and building our own stuff. This will take us way ahead of other competing countries. We have started to build our own stuff than in contributing and giving our prime talent to Microsofts and Apples like in the 1990’s.
