India called a agranian country because most of the population of India depends on agriculture. Almost 60% - 70% population of India depends on agriculture for their food and other domestic needs.

Agriculture also helps in economics of India. there is about 15% contribution of agriculture in Indian economics. This is a very small contribution comparing with other works.

India ranks 74 out of 113 major countries in terms of food security index.
