India is considered a secular state because of many reasons :-

1. In India there is no official religion.

2. The Constitution provide freedom to all individual and communities to profess, practice and propagate any religion, or not to follow any particular religion.

3. The Constitution prohibits discrimination on ground of religion.

4. Our Constitution allows the state to intervene in the matters of religion in order to ensure equality within religious communities.
