Why is India not able to perform to her full potential in iron and steel production? Explain any three reasons

Answer. Though, India is an important iron and steel producing country in the world yet, we are not able to perform to our full potential largely due to the following reasons: High costs and limited availability of coking coal Lower productivity of labour Irregular supply of energy and Poor infrastructure. Most of the steel plants have old machinery and technology.  Most of the Intergrated plants are more than 40 years old.

Raw materials availability is less.

Infrastructure facilities and transportation facilities are less.

Marketing prices are low or high compared to other countries.

Employment facilities.

Improvement in working process of machines are less.
