The fact that Indian Constitution has been amended about 100 times and the very flexible as well as it's rigid nature makes it a living document.
It is to this fact that Indian Constitution breathes through its regular refining suited particularly for the changing times, changing governments, changing philosophies and changing ideologies.
Also the separation of powers and acts like judicial activism like Basic Structure doctrine, social activism like RTI make it more of a “living document” than the other Constitution of say, America which has undergone only 27 amendments by far.

Why is the Indian constitution considered a living document? In layman language. Almost like a living being, this document keeps responding to situations and circumstances arising from time to time. Even after so many changes in the society, the constitution continues to work effectively because of this ability to be dynamic, to be open to interpretations and ability to respond changing situation. In a democracy, practice and ideas keep evolving over time and the society engages in experiments according to these.
