why is indian ocean named after india?

because india holds a after location which is at the head of indian ocean. probably in the ancient time , sea vessel coming india for trade sailed through those waters to visit india.....

no other country has a long coastline on the Indian Ocean as India has
Deccan Plateau protrudes into the Indian Ocean
the trans Indian ocean route which connect the countries of Europe in the west and the countries of East Asia provides a strategic Central location to India
