Hi...Insulin is secreted by (β-cells of ) pancreas. Insulin helps to lower blood glucose level.Deficiency of insulin hormone in the body causes diabetes ( Type 1 and 2),so for the diabetic patients they need to inject insulin daily because insulin only last for few hours in the blood as they can't be taken by mouth . Recently , I read that now insulin can be inhaled for needle-shy diabetics.
