hey
1.. to prevent rusting of bridges
2...zinc forms a layer on the iron that prevent contact between iron and air and this process is called glavinisation :)

HEYA!

Iron bridges are coated with zinc metal to prevent it from Rusting (CORROSION). Zinc does not corrode on exposure to damp air.

• Zinc is a highly reactive metal. On action of air , a thin coat of zinc oxide (ZnO) is formed which is hard and impervious and hence it protects the further corrosion of zinc.

☆ CORROSION- The eating up of metals by the action of air , moisture or a chemical on the surface is called corrosion.

•Zinc metal is coated on Iron through the process of Galvanisation .

Hope this helps!
