A compound is different from elements in that it is made from the chemical union of two or more elements. ... "For iron sulfide, two elements (sulfur and iron) are heated together so that they form thecompound iron sulfide. Although iron sulfide contains both sulfur and iron, it is not a mixture: it is a pure substance.

Answer:

Iron Sulfide is a compound and not a mixture because when Iron and Sulphur are mixed and heated then they combine chemically in order to form a new substance named Iron Sulfide and after its formation these can not be differentiated as individual elements and in each portion of the Iron Sulfide the proportion of Iron.

Hope it helps uh.
