because the pickle will react with the vessel and form oxides which are toxic.

Actually pickles or curd are acids. If they are stored in brass or copper containers as these are metals and they are acids both react and cause damage to the pickle or curd. it becomes uneatable. So it is advised not to store pickles or curd in copper or brass containers.
