Our mouth does not contain hair and mucus which is present in the nose for filtration of air. the mucus and hair present in our nose traps the dust particles present in the air.

The air passes through nostrils where fine hairs traps the dust particles present in air with the help of mucus. Thus, the air passing through nostrils is filtered.
But when air passes through mouth it passes without filtering which can cause infection/harmful diseases.
That's why we should breathe through our nose rather than mouth.
Hope it's clear to you!
