Iodine is one of the most important content that is necessary for making Thyroxine Hormone by the thyroid gland.

Deficiency of iodine in the diet could lead to the deficiency of Thyroxine hormone in body.

Deficiency of iodine in the diet produces less thyroxine causing the diseases called as GOITRE.

Therefore, doctors are advised to use iodised salt while cooking.
