Why is it better to call the dark phase of photosynthesis as a light independent phase?

Actually most of people get confused about these concepts, Photosynthesis is a process in which plants combine CO2,H2O and sunlight to create ATP (which could be considered as pure energy) plants need energy (ATP) to start and continue the process of photosynthesis but the rate of production of ATP is way more than the rate of its usage and the transport system in plants (Pholeum) is not that efficient that it could transfer this energy so rapidly so Dark phase of photosynthesis takes place when this Extra* ATP is converted to starch and stored for use in future SO YES DARK PHASE OF PHOTOSYNTHESIS COULD BE CALLED A LIGHT INDEPENDENT PHASE, but the difference (in time) between Light phase & Dark phase is really very less.

I hope you understand what it meant !
