Why is it better to wash cloth in hot water physics?

We know that the surface tension of aliquid decreases with the increase of temperature. So the surface tension ofhot water is less that that of cold water and hence the hot water spreads over a larger area of the thing that is being washed. That makes hot watereffective at washing than cold water.
