Why is it difficult to push an inverted glass into a bucket of water?

Because of the buoyancy. I. E. The air particles present in the glass when vertically pushed in a bucket of water, the air particles find it hard to escape from the glass due to the presence of water around it and it creates an upthrust which resists it from being pushed inside.

Due to the buoyant force exerted by the water on the glass in upward direction,

it is difficult to push an inverted glass into water.
