Why is it difficult to stop a boat??

Fluids, such as liquid and gas, also exert a frictional force on the body moving through them. However, the frictional force due to water on the body moving through them is much less than the frictional force between any two solid surfaces. Thus, it is difficult to stop boats.

It is difficult to pull the boat on the beach because of the friction between the boat and sand. But in the sea, there is less friction between the sea water and the boat. Hence, it is easier to pull the boat in the sea.
