It was easier to reconstruct the history of India during the colonial period in comparison to the ancient period because there are ample literary sources pertaining to the colonial period. The British government maintained records of all correspondence related to land, land revenues, revolts, political events etc. The availability of photos and video clippings of speeches of several leaders during the colonial era further added to the primary sources of colonial History.
