Cold air is better for engines because it is denser, so a nice cool 40 degreeday is kinder on a car than 110 degree heat. However, as the temperature gets colder battery draw, oil viscosity, and fuel system problems arise, so the car will probably start better in the heat than it will if it's 20 below 0 outside
