But that works against warm air to heat the room. So if you want forced-air ventilation to do both heating and cooling, design the vents and ducts so they produce a uniform temperature without depending on convection. And by the way, so they also do it efficiently and silently and without annoying drafts. A two-story building can save on ducting by feeding downstairs from the top and upstairs from the bottom.
