Why is it harder to lift a glued object on surface with respect to the situation when, it is not glued?

It's because of the properties cohesion(property of same materials to stick together) and adhesion( objects with different materials sticking together) forces.
We need an extra force to overcome the these forces (cohesion and adhesion forces) along with the Weight (W=mg) of the body.
