as our stomach contains several enzymes such as HCL , mucus and pepesin which have different functions

HCL - it kill the germs present in the food.

Mucus - it protect the inner linning of stomach from the action of HCL

Pepsine - it breaks the complex protein into simpler forms

if we don't have stomach such procedure wouldn't take place which is one of the very important aspect of digestion.
