why is it important to know the category to which an infectious agent of disease belong to?

it is important because if we could get to know the category of infectious agents then only we would be able to give medicines as per its category so that the disease could be cured
for example, if a virus has caused any disease and the patient is taking antibiotics then he/she will take a long time to be cured
that's why its necessary
