The object would Accelerate in the direction of the force it would change direction and possibly change speed too. If the force continued to push perpendicular to the velocity there would be no change in speed. But the object would move in a circular path

Because if the force is acting in one direction and displacement is in the same direction then the work done formula is fscosteta =fscos0
=fscos0
= fs
If displacement is opposite to the direction of force then work done is negative
If displacement is perpendicular to direction of force then work done is 0 as fs cos90
Which is fs cos0
=0
