The setting of goals is the primary step for achievement of vision by the organisation. The goals step by the organisation must be SMART which means they must be:

Specific

Measurable

Achievable

Realistic i.e the goals must be such which are not too ambitious and can be achieved by the organisation if it provides required efforts. The goals must not be unrealistic or unattainable because if it is so then the very idea to work towards its achievement will be lost. Say suppose a person who just started to run sets a goal to run faster than usain bolt in less than 7 days

Time bound

Answer:

Setting realistic goals is important because it keeps an individual's motivation up. An individual who sets up unrealistic goals is more likely to become discourage through the process and is therefore more likely to give up on the goal. By setting realistic goals, an individual can maintain motivation and stick to established timelines, culminating in the successful completion of a goal.

Also, Setting goals is important no matter what you are trying to achieve. There are a range of different goal levels, but there are a few criteria your goals need to meet in order to be useful. One of these is that your goals should be realistic.
