why is it necessary boil or bake the silk worm?

It is very important to boil silk cocoons because if we boil silk ccocoons we see that the thread type looses by the cocoons which is actually silk thread if we cut the cocoons and remove the silk worm out of it we wont get the continuous thread. So i conclud by saying that it is important to boil silk cocoons containing silk worms to get the continuous thread.
