Why is it necessary to have an earth wire installed in a power circuit, but not in a lightning circuit?

The purpose of an earth wire is to remove the excess charge or electrons from a circuit by moving them to ground.
Lighting detector is used to know the intensity of lightning , so the presence of an earth wire will reduce its intensity and we can't detect the actual intensity, so an earth wire is absent in lighting circuit.
