Why is it necessary to level the soil after ploughing?

It is important to level the field after ploughing because:-

i) It prevents the loss of moisture from the soil as if surface area is reduced, then evaporation will be reduced and the soil will retain more moisture.

ii) In levelled field, water logging would be reduced and it would help in uniform irrigation.

iii) After being ploughed, the soil become loose and could be blown away by wind. so, levelled land prevents loss of upper layer of soil from being blown away.

iv) It helps in breaking big lumps of soil.
