why is it not easy to move an object from its static position

When an object is in its static position, it has better hold of the surface on which it is placed. The irregularities of the surface are interlocked properly and more force is needed to overcome the friction offered by the interlocking surfaces. So, it is difficult to move the object from its position of rest.
