why is it not possible for us to swallow and breathe at same time???

genius22: see i will explain u in detail
Anonymous: okay bro
genius22: For swallowing, it starts from buccal cavity and for breathing, air comes and meetin buccal cavity. Both air and food comes together in buccal cavity amd from there two passage are there, one is OESOPHAGUS and other is TRACHEA.
genius22: A flap like structure is present on the junction of Epiglottis and Oesophagus. It is known as EPIGLOTTIS.
genius22: When u swallow epiglottis covers trache so that food can go into oesophagus same way when u breath epiglottis covers oesophagus so that air can go into trachea.
genius22: If u do both the activities together, epiglottis cannot judge which pipe to close so a misfunction can happen which results in coughing.
genius22: Hope now ur concepts are clear:-))
Anonymous: Tnx for the great help
genius22: wlcm:))

because when we breathe air comes inside and the body expands and when we eat peristalsis takes place, so it affects breathing.
