It is not wise to reduce friction in every situation. The tiles used on the floors of the bathroom are designed with small grooves or gentle spikes on the surface. Such a design increases the friction between the surfaces of wet floor and protects us from slipping and reducing friction in such situation can be dangerous.

The resistance to movement or locomotion of one item traveling compared to another would be defined as friction
Following are the points that justify reducing friction in every situation is not a wise idea:
- Friction helps in preventing the sliding up of any object or person.
- For example, automobile brakes employ friction that helps to stop the vehicle. If the friction didn't exist, the vehicle could have never been stopped which would have led to severe accidents on the roads. Hence friction helps in preventing roadside accidents.
- There is friction that acts when we walk. Hadn't there been any friction and we would be moving on a frictionless surface, we won't be able to walk. We would be sliding away every time we put our foot on the surface.
- Friction causes asteroids or stones to disintegrate throughout the atmosphere prior to actually approaching the entire planet (Earth).
