Why is it possible to drive a nail into a piece of wood with a hammer but it is not possible to push a nail in by hand?

if we drive a nail into the wood our hands can have an injury because of the sharpness of the nail

we put force by hand using hammer as we know it makes no harm or pain to us but if we apply that force from bare hands,our hands would start painin an thinkin that we donot try doin tha...............t.
