Why is it said that -

a) A mixture is said to be homogeneous if its constituents are uniformly distributed and are not physically distinct. Air is a mixture of different gases, which cannot be seen as physically distinct. Thus, the gases completely mix with each other and so air is a homogeneous mixture.

b) Water is capable of dissolving a variety of different substances, which is why it is such a good solvent. And, water is called the "universal solvent" because it dissolves more substances than any other liquid. This is important to every living thing on earth.

c) It is said that there is no alternative to water for cleaning purposes. Water is provided by nature. Water is available in abundance.So as there is more water on Earth we use water for cleaning purposes. We do not use other substances because some substances are very expensive and some substances are very scare .
