Why is it said that gas is more compressible than liquids?

gas is more compressible than liquids because the molecules in gases move freely and can be easily compressed

in liquid the molecules do not move freely but they are loosely packed

In gas the inter- molecular space is more than in liquid and solids thats why Molecules in gas move freely . In liquids the space beetween molecules are less. Thats why gases are more compressible than water...
