Explanation:

It becomes harder sometimes to find the type of pollution because environmental problems are interrelated. They range from local to global issues.

A source may be emitting something in air which may not cause any harm in the ambient air but the same component may get deposited to the land after some distance and cause land pollution.

Same is the case with a lot of other pollutants which may cause more than one type of pollution e.g. land, air, water etc.

Sometimes it is difficult to identify the type of pollution because they come from non point sources.

  • A non-point source the one in which the exact origin of the pollution is hard to identify. Non - point sources are also known as diffused pollution.
  • For example - The floodwater. The water in flood sweeps away all types of waste from the land into a river or any corresponding water body which also includes the possibly fecal matter.
  • Such type can not be identified, as in this situation an individual, an animal or the household or an industry can be the cause of water pollution.
