During the daytime the trees absorb Carbon dioxide and give out Oxygen. That is during daytime they perform photosynthesis. But during the daytime they respire, like us by taking in oxygen and they give out Carbon dioxide. Now as there is nothing that is absorbing the excess amount of carbon dioxide the air around the tree is rich in carbon dioxide gas which can kill us(we will die of suffocation. This is why we are advised by our elders not to sleep under trees during night time.

Answer:

The carbon dioxide released by trees during respiration at night is too little to cause any harm (we have much more of this gas in our bedroom). However, the droppings of the perching birds and the night-active insects, spiders, snakes, etc., are real dangers. But believe it, there are no ghosts or spirits resting on the trees!
