In asexual reproduction the offspring is produced by a single parent. As a result, the offspring that are produced are not only similar to one another but are also exact copies of their parent. Such a group of morphologically and genetically similar individuals is called clone.

Variation in asexual organisms can occur through mutations. Mutations are sudden errors occurred during the reproduction process of an organism. Sometimes these sudden errors are beneficial for organisms which are passed on to their offsprings and produce variations. These mutations can be caused due to chemicals or radiations. For example- Formation of superbugs. These bugs were resistant to some of the antibiotics.
